Parents who are considering making an application for their child to attend St. Bernadette’s are warmly invited to visit and see our school in action; this can be arranged by calling the Academy Office on 01724 842382 and making an appointment, or by emailing admin@stbernadettesacademy.com

Admission Authority

The Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust is the admission authority for all the schools within the Trust and is responsible for determining the Admissions Policy.

On behalf of the Trust, the admissions are coordinated by the relevant Local Authority. All decisions relating to admission applications will be taken by the school’s Local Governing Body.

At St. Bernadette’s we admit 3 intakes of children into our Nursery per year at the start of each new term.  Children must be 3 years old to attend our Nursery.

The academy offers both 15 and 30 hours per week places, the latter of which  are available to children of parents meeting certain eligibility criteria. Please contact our Business Manager, Mrs. R. Southwick,  in our Academy Office for further details and to collect an application form.

Please note that if your child does attend our Nursery, this does not automatically mean that your child will receive a place in our Reception intake. Applications for Reception are a separate process – please see the next tab for further details.

Primary Admissions Policy 2024-2025

Children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 will be starting school for the first time (Reception Year) in September 2024.

If you are making an application for St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy, please ensure that you follow BOTH steps below – this will avoid any delays in your application being processed.

STEP 1:

Complete the Local Authority Common Application Form on the North Lincolnshire Council website.

STEP 2:

If applying for a place on faith grounds you will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form:

Please be aware that the closing date for applications for a place in our Reception Year is 15th January 2024.

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places.

An application should be made to North Lincolnshire Council by completing the Local Authority Common Application Form and following the instructions on their website.

If applying for a place on faith grounds you will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form:

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for 2023-2024, will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

Primary Admissions Policy 2023-2024

If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list. Please see the admission arrangements for more details.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible. Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.

Parents whose children have not been offered a place at a school in the normal admissions round will be added to the school’s waiting list unless they have been offered a place at a higher preference school. The list will remain open until the end of the academic application year. 

If a parent wishes their child to remain on the waiting list, they must re-apply each academic year. 

North Lincolnshire Council manages the admissions waiting list for St. Bernadette’s.
