The Governing Body
Our governors are a highly committed, skilled, and hardworking group of people who volunteer their time to meet regularly to discuss and oversee the strategic management of the academy. The full governing body meets at least three times per academic year, and numerous other committee meetings also take place.
The principal role of the governing body is to ensure the successful implementation of the academy’s Mission Statement, working as a team and in close co-operation with the Headteacher and all staff. A majority of our governors are Foundation Governors, appointed by the Bishop of Nottingham, and with a specific duty to ensure that the Catholic character of the academy is preserved. In short, the role of the Governing Body comprises the following key responsibilities:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction;
• Holding Leaders to account for the educational performance of the academy and its pupils, and
the performance management of the staff;
• Overseeing the financial performance of the academy and ensuring value for money.
St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy is now part of the St. Thérèse of Lisieux Catholic Multi-Academy Trust. We shall provide a link to our new Trust once information becomes available.
